The bushwick collective
As A queens native growing up around graffiti , everyone knew the place to go see some of the coolest Graff pieces and street art was in Long Island City. Specifically known as 5 points , what many graffiti artist and fans alike called the mecca of graffiti. However , I guess you can say due to politics and the growing gentrification over the years, 5 points was unceremoniously demolished in 2013. This left many like me to wonder where you would ever find a unique place to duplicate such creativity. Apparently the answer to that question was right next door in Bushwick, Brooklyn!
Walking through certain sections of Bushwick was like walking through an interactive outdoor gallery. If walking around checking out some amazing wall art wasn't cool enough, what made this day unique was the Bushwick Collective celebrating it's forth annual block party. Thousands came out not only to enjoy the weather , live music and other activites but also a great chance to watch creatiivity up close as street artist from near and far came out to showcase some incredible mural pieces.
Check out some of them in our Gallery.
