DIVA Fund Raisers
Write off cancer/Who runs the world/Fuck Cancer
It's a great thing when people are able to come together to support each other's art but even better when a community can come together and take care of one of their own. For those who don't know DIVA has been one of the most accomplished female graffiti artist in NYC since the 80's. Even today you can still catch some other work around the city as well as magazines and galleries. Last year she was recently diagnosed with cancer. Over the last few weeks various art events and fund raisers were held not only to bring cancer awareness but also to help with expenses.special. shout out to Avante Garde Gallery, The living Gallery and the Scrap Yard store for holding these fundraiser events. Even bigger shoutout and respect to all the artist who participated in raising awareness as well as their time, effort and putting some really great paintings to raise funds. If you missed any of the shows, you can check out the pics in the gallery section.

First City Project
First City Project House
Location: Glen Cove LI
When you think about Glen Cove it would probably be the last place you think about going to check out graffiti. However, the people at the First City Project have been busy at work transforming a historic house into the new destination for street art and graffiti. Every inch of the 9,000 square foot house features the who's who of the street art and graff community. Checking out all the street art up close was almost reminiscent of passing by Five Points back in the day . Definitely looking forward to seeing what else these guys have up their sleeves. You can check out the pics in the gallery section.

BIGGIE TRIBUTE

Biggie 20 Year Anniversary Art tribute
Location: Bishop Gallery
It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since we lost one of New York's most talented young rappers. While those closest to him may have known him as Christoper Wallace, to his millions of fans he was just called Biggie.
He will always be remember as a hip hop legend, not only for his charisma but his poetic flow and story-telling ability. While we will always remember him for his contribution to hip hop and music, tonight we got the opportunity to remember him through art . Thanks to the people at spread Art NYC for curating this great event at the Bishop Art Gallery. If you missed out on the show you can check out the pics from the event in the gallery section.

Wellington Court
While 5pointz has been long gone, the art movement is still alive and kicking in Queens. Had a chance to stop by the welling court in Astoria as they hosted their Annual block party. In anticipation of the block party, many artist had already begun their mural weeks in advance while others were just putting the finishing touches to their pieces. Much like the bushwick collective movement , the Welling Court Mural Project brings their own diverse range of intriguing artists and murals. Definitely had a good time and enjoyed catching up with some of the artist . If you Missed out, don't forget check out our gallery.
